About Chin Baptist Church
Chin Baptist Church Pakenham was founded in May 2018 by the Chin people living in Pakenham.
They speak Chin-Hakha language, which is one of many languages in Myanmar. They are refugees from Myanmar.
Chin and other ethnic minorities have been persecuted by the Burmese military because of their religion, and their ethnic minorities for over 70 years until now.
Most Chin church members arrived and settled first in Eastern Melbourne and moved to Pakenham from there since the rise of house prices in Eastern Melbourne.
Now, there are 230 members in this church and their senior pastor is Rev Mang Sangkim. He is a graduate from Whitley College and accredited ordained minister of Baptist Union of Victoria.
